WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today Vannevar Labs, a defense technology start-up, announced the transition of the company’s prime contract with the Defense Innovation Unit (DIU) from a prototype contract to a production scale contract. The new contract has a potential ceiling value of $99M, with $16M obligated upon award. This transition will enable the continued scaling of Vannevar’s technology across the Department of Defense (DoD).
This production agreement will field capabilities developed under the prototype agreement for exquisite sensing capabilities that enable DoD teams to identify adversary activity, manage their forces’ signature, deliver effects, and assess the impact of those effects in strategic competition, and is underpinned by $80M in cumulative prototyping investments across 20+ DoD program offices and joint warfighting elements with $13M in costs saved through cross-DoD scaled discounting from FY21-24.
“Vannevar Labs is all in on building the non-kinetic capabilities the Department needs to deter our adversaries and de-escalate conflict, and this new DIU contract will enable the company to continue to grow our support for critical missions across the DoD,” said Brett Granberg, CEO and Co-Founder of Vannevar Labs. “Our mission is to provide the nation with innovative solutions to ensure the United States prevails in strategic competition. From collecting non-traditional intelligence data, disrupting misinformation, and maintaining multi-domain information dominance, we’re helping to win the fight before it’s fought.”
“As a defense technology company, it can be difficult to navigate the federal acquisition process without great advocates inside the Government. We’re grateful to have excellent partners in the DIU and Washington Headquarters Service who share our vision,” said Nini Hamrick, President and Co-Founder of Vannevar Labs. “The DIU contracting model allows us to rapidly iterate on products that directly address the challenges our end users are facing. As a result, we can operate at the speed of relevance to help the U.S. and our allies deter and de-escalate conflict.”
